Co-op and the Canadian Red Cross: A Partnership to be Proud

In 2018, Co-op formally renewed its commitment to the Canadian Red Cross by signing a five-year agreement to donate up to $1.5 million between 2018 and 2022. The funds will be used to support disaster management and emergency response services in Western Canadian communities.

Our partnership with the Canadian Red Cross truly demonstrates what it means to be part of a community. In many cases, when natural disasters strike in Western Canada, local Co-ops initiate till donation campaigns, allow employees time off to aid their community and keep their doors open to provide relief and support to anyone in need.

Part of this renewed partnership includes the holiday-season Give Card Campaign, in which the sale of specially marked CO-OP® Gift Cards automatically generates a $1 donation to the Canadian Red Cross.

Co-op’s commitment to the Canadian Red Cross dates back several years. From the Southern Alberta floods in 2013 to the BC wildfires in 2017, a list of impact stories from Co-op’s across Western Canada can be found here.

In partnering with the Canadian Red Cross, Co-op’s donations stay in Western Canada to directly help the people and places that we call home, whenever the need arises.
